Copilot Training for Large Organisations

Microsoft 365 Copilot for 1,000+ employees: one keynote for everyone, hands-on workshops by department

Bottom line: Copilot training for large organisations works as 3 building blocks. A keynote for everyone, hands-on workshops by department, and sessions for executives, managers and Copilot champions. We agree the order on a short call.

The focus is how people actually work with it. IT uses Copilot on incident threads. Finance on Excel files. Sales on meeting prep. HR on job descriptions. Managers on status updates. Copilot first, with Claude or Gemini in the room too (your people use them anyway).

I've worked and trained on Gen AI since early 2022, and I've run 264 AI sessions in 112 organisations (updated October 2026).

Why one training day does not work at 1,000+ employees

Enterprise Copilot training has a maths problem. 1,000 people don't fit into groups of 20 in one day, and one webinar for everyone teaches nobody their own job.

According to Recon Analytics (February 2026), only 35.8% of US workers who have Copilot available at work use it as their main AI tool. A licence on its own doesn't create use. Here's why Copilot rollouts stall, and more on Copilot adoption.

Copilot rollout training has two jobs: reach everyone, and still land on each team's real work. So you combine formats.

Copilot training for large teams: three formats that scale

A keynote reaches everyone at once. It doesn't build the habit (watching never does), so hands-on workshops come next.

01A keynote for everyone

A Copilot keynote for the whole company works for dozens to thousands of people, at an all-hands, a conference or on Zoom. The length is agreed with the organiser. It shows how each role uses Copilot, Claude or Gemini at work, Copilot first.

02Hands-on workshops, department by department

The hands-on Copilot workshop takes up to 20 people for 1.5 to 4 hours. For 1,000+ people you can repeat the format across departments. Everyone writes prompts on their own real tasks.

03Sessions for the people who multiply it

Options here: a short briefing for the executive team, Copilot training for managers (they set the tone in every team), and Copilot champions training for the people colleagues ask when they get stuck.

03.

Every department works on its own real tasks

Copilot training by department means by role, not by app. Each group practises in Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams on its own work.

IT brings incident threads and vendor documents. Finance and accounting bring their Excel files. Procurement brings supplier emails and contracts. HR brings job descriptions and policy drafts. Sales brings meeting prep and follow-ups. Marketing brings briefs and campaign copy. Project managers bring status reports and meeting notes.

Each participant leaves with the prompts they wrote on their own real tasks. That's the whole promise (I'd rather keep it small and true).

04.

A sequence that works for Copilot training at scale

One option: executive briefing, then the keynote for everyone, then managers, then department workshops one after another, with champions trained alongside. Your organisation may need a shorter version, so we agree the order on a short call. A lunch and learn is a lighter format.

Sessions run online or on site, in English. Each one is booked as a session. It's not a rollout project, and I don't configure your tenant.

05.

Who runs it

I do. Organisations I have worked with include Intel, Roche, EY, Deloitte, KLA, Amdocs and ZIM (not all of them Copilot sessions). The product changes constantly, and so do the workshops and lectures.

I have no commercial interest in Microsoft. My bias is toward people actually using the thing.

Common questions

How do you run Copilot training for large organisations with 1,000+ employees?

You combine a keynote that reaches dozens to thousands at once with hands-on workshops by department, up to 20 people each, on their own real tasks. One big webinar alone teaches nobody their own job. The mix is agreed on a short call.

Should we start with a keynote or with hands-on workshops?

Often with the keynote, because it reaches everyone at once. But it doesn't build the habit. The workshops are where people write their own prompts on their own tasks.

How should Copilot training for large teams be split across departments?

By role, not by app. Finance, HR, Sales, marketing, procurement, IT and managers have different daily tasks, so each group practises on its own work. Groups stay at up to 20 per workshop, so everyone practises instead of watching.

How long are the sessions, and can they run online for several countries?

Workshops run 1.5 to 4 hours for up to 20 participants. Keynotes run from dozens to thousands of people, with the length agreed with the organiser. Everything can run online in English, or on site.

We rolled out the licences. Why isn't usage where we expected?

A licence isn't the same as use. According to Recon Analytics (February 2026), only 35.8% of US workers who have Copilot available at work use it as their main AI tool.

How is this different from standard Copilot training for companies?

The standard offer is Copilot training for companies of any size. Here we also decide who gets which format, in which order, and how you reach thousands of people without one generic session.

Who runs the training, and what is the experience?

I do. I've worked and trained on Gen AI since early 2022, and I've run 264 AI sessions in 112 organisations (updated October 2026), not all of them Copilot sessions.
