03Onboarding materials
Welcome emails, first-week schedules and manager checklists, built once in Copilot and reused for every new hire after.
04Employee communications
Benefits updates, restructuring notices, the messages HR has to get right the first time (the kind that lands in every inbox within the hour).
Everything above is drafting and editing text. A person still writes the job ad, sets the criteria and decides who moves forward.
Copilot for HR professionals and the EU AI Act
The EU AI Act's Annex III, point 4, classifies certain employment uses of AI as high-risk: recruitment and selection (job ads, filtering applications, evaluating candidates) and employment decisions (promotion, termination, performance monitoring), regardless of which tool performs them. Editing a policy document or an onboarding email sits outside that classification.
As of September 2026, the compliance deadline for these Annex III obligations sits at 2 December 2027, pushed back from 2 August 2026 by the EU's Digital Omnibus on AI, Regulation (EU) 2026/1744 (real runway to prepare, not a deadline to panic about).
Can Copilot be used for job descriptions and recruiting documents under the EU AI Act?
Drafting text (a job description or screening criteria) is different from automated candidate filtering or scoring. This workshop draws that line explicitly.
Recruiting and employee records are also personal data under GDPR (see how GDPR applies to recruiting and employee data, and the broader AI Act compliance picture). None of this is a verdict on whether Copilot itself is high-risk: the classification attaches to the use case, not the tool. Your own legal counsel is the right place to check how it applies to your organisation (really, I'm a trainer, not a lawyer).

Who this is for
Copilot training for HR teams suits an HR or L&D head at a European organisation on Microsoft 365 whose team handles recruiting, onboarding, policy documents and internal communications. No prior AI experience required.
